Veteran Care

At Hosparus Health, we are proud to serve our armed services veterans. Through a partnership with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO)  and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Hosparus Health provides programs and services focused on improving the quality of hospice and palliative care for veterans and their families. We Honor Veterans provides us with tools and resources to meet the unique challenges veterans may face at the end of life. With support from the We Honor Veterans program, we are able to:

In most instances, Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance providers cover the costs of hospice care. Veterans who are not covered under one of these agencies are covered under the Veterans Administration’s benefit program.

Honoring Veterans at the Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center

Our Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center (HICC) ensures that all veteran patients are given the respect they deserve. For all who have served in the United States Armed Forces, we know what value and importance that the flag represents and we strive to continue that honor and respect. When a veteran is admitted to the HICC, we honor them in the following ways:

In addition to clinical services, we offer Veteran Honor visits wherever the patient calls home, most often provided by a veteran volunteer. During the visit, the volunteer performs a brief ceremony and presents a certificate of recognition and appreciation for the veteran’s service, and often a token such as a patriotic care blanket or cap. Veteran Honor visits are received with gratitude and sometimes great emotion. In some cases, our patient retired from the military and that service was the primary focus of most of their life. Other times it has been many years but the veteran is grateful to have their service acknowledged during such a poignant time. Apply here to be a veteran volunteer.
