Description: This presentation will discuss common grief responses and its clinical implications to assist clinicians in their support for children and families who experience loss from the death of someone in their lives. The presentation will also explore considerations for supporting and treating adults and children who experience complications in their grief processes.
Participants will be able to:
1. Describe common grief responses and manifestations by developmental levels.
2. Identify current trends and themes in research on grief theories and clinical interventions for childhood and adult grief.
3. Identify and discuss different types of grief and loss (e.g. childhood traumatic grief, ambiguous loss, disenfranchised grief).
4. Learn interventions to assist families and clients across the lifespan in their grief work.
Jacquelyn Love, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist who earned her Psy.D. from the University of Indianapolis in 2012. Jacquelyn has more than 13 years experience working with children and families.
Jeff Meyer, LSW is a licensed social worker who earned his MSSW from the University of Louisville, Kent School of
Social Work. Jeff has more than 8 years of experience working with children and families.
